After many years in healthcare, both clinical and leadership roles, I’ve been aware of the need for an integrated patient service for Sleep Disordered Breathing. Undiagnosed symptoms of Sleep Apnea may go unnoticed for many years, with patients struggling with daytime tiredness, on medication for raised blood pressure, sleeping separately due to nighttime noise and most commonly, struggling to find appropriate help to manage assess and manage their symptoms.
Collectively we have established the bcSHC, to bring together healthcare experts in Respiratory Sleep Medicine, ENT (Ear Noise and Throat), Oral Appliance Therapy, CBT-I, (Cognitative Behavioural Therapy in Insomnia) and Nutritional guidance and support, in an integrated patient Sleep Health service.
Our ongoing goal is to support patients in accessing an timely diagnosis, appropriate treatments interventions (where indicated) and provide ongoing support, for the optimal management of Sleep Apnoea and the associated symptoms.

Internationally, mild OSA prevalence is estimated at 9 % – 38 %, moderate-severe at 6 %–17 % of adults.
